We provide a better value of service
If all you want is a set of legal documents, there are plenty of low cost online resources available to you, or you can go to a traditional estate planning lawyer. The problem with those “plans” and “services” are that they are a “one size fits all” plan that do not take your wishes into account or your particular family or in many horrible cases they are not legally stuffiest and will not be upheld. Worse they will be upheld but will have dire consequences that you didn’t know would take place – such as a 19 year old getting a check for $392,000 or your ex-son in law getting 1/2 of your daughter’s inheritance. There are 1001 ways in which this process can go wrong, and only one what in which it goes well – that is having it done properly.
If you want peace of mind knowing that you have a plan in place that has been custom designed for your family that will make things easier for your loved ones no matter what happens, then we are the right fit for you.
All of our fees are fixed and agreed to in advance, so there are no surprises. At our initial estate assessment, you will choose the level of planning and the fee that works best for your family.
One doesn’t have to look long before one hears stories of families being split apart by arguments over estates. Most are not over large estates either. The problem is that people think that since they have a Will everything is taken care of and all the details will work out. The horror stories about poor estate planning are endless. From the “lost Will” to the missing itemization in the Will because “everyone knows he was supposed to give the china” to the new bride, who wants everything, that no one knew about.
If one could talk to these individuals, I am sure that they would all say that fighting amongst their loved ones is the last thing they would ever want. Unfortunately they didn’t know how to plan in a way that would have prevented any conflict or at the least minimized it.
We can’t promise that a family will not argue. We can promise that they won’t argue because your wishes are not properly spelled out in detail.
We don’t just draft estate documents. We work with our clients to really determine how they want their legacy to be remembered and distributed.
We also keep in touch with our clients. One of Brita’s clients’ grandfather passed away. He had a Will, but no one could find it or remember who the attorney was who drafted the Will. As a result, his Will didn’t do the family much good. This would not happen with one of our client’s. Again, our relationship with you is just beginning with the drafting of your estate documents.
